What makes essence of air

Visit at off-peak hours for your best chance. Comment by Asher If this doesn't work for you, you might try buying Essence of Water and getting them transmuted. That's probably the easiest way since EoW are always on the AH for a reasonable price.

Comment by A warlock specced with Intensity and a Paladin can duo these and clear the whole place before respawns. Have the Paladin use Concentration Aura, tag elementals as much as you can grab running around without losing them with Curse of Elements, and once they're on you, use Hellfire and have the Paladin heal you. You can easily get essence per hours. The drop rate varied, but I was able to get about essence per hour as a shadow spec'd priest.

Depending on your server, you may have to compete with others for the mobs - I however never had a problem. Comment by I don't know how readable this will be but here's a little diagram of the transmute circle that is possible with elemental essences. Comment by Dont bother trying to find the Cyclone warrios or any of the rarer mobs because they take too long to find, your better off farming the dust stormers.

I farmed there for about 20 minutes and managed to get 4 essences and a Krol Blade! And the dust stormers give rep with the waterlords. Comment by Sware The best class to farm essence of air is mages, they can AoE atleast at a time.

With 2 points in magic attunement and Ice barrier they will be hitting you for 30 damage a hit thats after they break your ice barrier.

Comment by Darkvalor They have lowered the drop rate greatly since 2. Comment by Jsut killed dust stormers. Not one essence drop. Comment by 2 drops in 65 kills tonight. The drop rate isn't as bad as previously stated.

I'm going to try to grind out about 4 more, will update stats afterwards. Ok, ok, the drop rate IS as bad as people say. I guess I just got lucky early on. Good luck to anyone needing alot of these. Comment by Gape i got the essence after around 30 kills, but there are quite a lot and are easy to farm i still didn't get intellect on weapon after researchers :P.

Comment by Lvl hunter. Comment by redia As a hunter, my pet has got the highest nature res, just for this essence. Comment by As a level 70 hunter ive spent like an hour to get 4 of these : Drop rate is low as shit.

Comment by Thottbot 1. There are two ghosts and they are kind of hard to see, you can easily run by them without noticing. Speak to the lady and she will tell you a story first, then you will be able to get the quest. There are two other quests in the series that require you to return to Scholomance and kill other bosses. Upon completion of the line you will get a trinket that allows you to see the rest of the ghosts of Caer Darrow.

Equip the trinket and go to where the blacksmithing building is in Caer Darrow it is inside the walls, not by the docks.

There is a dwarf there who sells the transmute formula. He also sells the recipe for Major Mana Potion and some blacksmithing plans. A guildee farmed them for 2 hours but didn't manage to find any. He did aquire about 8 Breath of Winds though which at least made the trip worthwhile. Comment by Thottbot I've been farming silithus non-stop for a few weeks now, a few hours a day The whirlwind invaders ARE a part of the elemental invasion. Their spawn is connected to the lvl 60 elite mob The Windreaver.

You will be notified in your chat history when he spawns! My experience leads me to believe that he spawns almost on a daily basis, though often in the early day. Whirlwind invaders ARE alot easier to kill, so go for those mainly - avoid killing the windreaver, since he puts an end to all whirlwind invaders A Silithus must-know: Keep an eye out for Hurricanian.

He looks like a whirlwind invader. Comment by Thottbot It never ceases to amaze me how many people become belligerent over drop rates for the uncommon materials and patterns needed to make rare and epic gear. If these things were easy to make, they wouldn't be rare or epic. If the materials were easy to gather, everyone would have the end product. There would be no challenge, everyone would have amazing gear, and there would be no reason to work for anything.

I'm glad there are stupid-hard tasks to complete in this game. I'm happy that it's actually noteworthy for such-and-such guild to have what's-the-name that is capable of crafting X item or performing Y enchant from patterns and formulae that take a lot of effort or luck just to gain, material gathering aside. I guess that part of the problem is Thottbot. When you can easily look up how to get something, you expect to be able to do so. It's like the people who beg for money so they can train in everything that's available at their new level: they feel that they're entitled to it just because it's there, that the difficulty involved is somehow not intentional or something that needs to be "fixed.

Comment by Thottbot Theres a very simple concept you need to understand about why it may or may not drop. Infact, you could kill somthing a million times and never see it once. If I flip a coin times and every single time it comes up heads Suncreeper Tendrils are Magical Alchemy Materials.

As hinted by the name, they are obtained from Suncreepers. It is an Alchemy Protective Material. It can be used to craft with Arcana, but also with Engineering and Stonecutting. You can also craft Air Wisps. In order to make an Air Wisp, you need to use five Air Motes. Mostly, you will be using this as an ingredient when crafting potions. However, the majority of items crafted with it are done so from Stonecutting recipes. This is an Epic crafting resource from the Alchemy Offensive class that — obviously — is derived from Lightning Beetles.

Draught of Wolf Essence. Drop of Ancient Essence. Earth Essence. Earth Mote. Earth Quintessence. Earth Wisp. Earthshell Tail. Earthspine Flower. Earthspine Leaf. Earthspine Stem. Fire Essence. Fire Mote. Fire Quintessence. Fire Wisp. Freezing Lodestone. Frogfish Tail. Fungal Slime. Fungal Spores. Gillflower Gills. Gleaming Lodestone.

Glowing Mushroom Cap. Halibut Viscera. Life Essence. Life Mote. Life Quintessence. Life Wisp. Lifebloom Flower. Lifebloom Leaf. Lifebloom Stem. Lifemoth Eyes. Lightning Beetle. Loamy Lodestone. Molten Lodestone. Mushroom Fins. Paddlefish Gills. Piranha Tooth. Be prepared, though, everyone and their brother farms these things there, it is sometimes hard to get them. Comment by Ok Comment by 30mins farming these and i got 13 seems the drop rate has been increased since Patch 2. Comment by imo these r completely overrated and i dont know why anyone would farm them on my server which is wildhammer us they sell for about 50 silver each Comment by idahoe Are essences still in high demand now that Burning Crusade is out?

I don't think I really should spend the time to get the transmutes for these items, as I don't come across these in the Outlands. I'll have to check my AH to see the prices, but it would surprise me if there is a demand for these, unless they are connected to a class quest. Comment by how much are these worth I have a stack of ten I don't need how much could I sell it for? Comment by ramijob I farmed dust stormers for 15 mins with my 59 dk, no down time.

Comment by TheLegendaryNick As of 3. Comment by Can be very easely obtained running circles around the mountain in Silithus, if you're lucky a rare spawn might just make his appearance there, watch out as he's not easy to solo if you're lv My first round around the mountain i had: i didn't kill the air elementals further away from the mountain 6 essence of earth 5 essence of air 3 elemental air 2 breath of wind trash: random bs plans, star ruby My second round: 5 essence of earth 1 core of earth 1 elemental earth 4 essence of air 2 elemental air 2 breath of wind My third and final round: 4 essence of earth 2 core of earth 8 essence of air 1 elemental air 2 breath of wind trash: aquamarine, green bracers, green mace This took roughly minutes as a lv 80 warlock Done on Bloodscalp EU, high population and noone was in the zone.

Comment by As people have said, Silithus is the best place. Especially if you are level I killed all of the ones alive in the NW corner and got 2. Which is what I was needing for the Eng. Comment by 12 Essence of Air over minutes. I recommend farming in Silithus and trying to get this essence from Dust Stormer. I've put on me elements and used some aoe and it was very fast. The avarage buyout price on our server is arround gold per one essence.

Comment by 10 of these sells for about gold on my server, Aman'thul Horde side. Comment by Jubjub 19 kills - 8 drops. Comment by logitec I farmed every elemental in the area for about 30 minutes came out with 1 BoE green, 51 Core of Elements and 29 Essence of air. I killed alot of Dust stormers since the other mobs didnt appear much. Used for Agility weapon enchantments.

Best farmed off Dust Stormers. Comment by Shadowjack I've farmed a couple batches of these lately. In Silithus I get a rate of about 1 Essence of Air per minute. Here's how I did it. Every once in a few days, there is an elemental invasion in Silithus, where a large number of "Whirling Invaders" spawn. Check silithus daily for the event. The Windreaver mob yells over silithus announcing the invasion periodically. Round up and kill the "Whirling Invader" mobs as efficiently as you can. This method of "Juggling" the boss mob might be the most effective way to quickly kill Whirling Invaders.

Spend an hour or so doing this. In an hour I had nearly 60 Essence of Air. Kill The Windreaver. This is devious, underhanded, and a bit unfair But it allows you to control the Essence of Air market for the next few days - as no other method of farming this item is nearly as lucrative. For those who don't know, when The Windreaver dies - the invasion ends and the mobs stop spawning.

Mop up the remaining invaders, and filter your Essence of Air onto the auction house at at a time DON'T flood the auction house, it will devalue your items! Enjoy making gold for an EASY hour's work. Be proud of the fact that you rounded up a lot of a rare item, then forced the farming of the item to halt for several days! If you are dilligent, you should get good at timing the invasion so that the next time the Air Elementals take over northwest Silithus, you are ready to go round up their drops and end the invasion again!

Comment by UberShifting I farmed them for 30 minutes. I got 33 of Essence of air. They sold for 43G. I made about G :. Comment by Zulustriker There is real money to be had here since people roll alts with their heirloom items weapons in this case. Since heirlooms can only be enchanted with old world enchants which do not have any restrictions on item level, the best old world enchants are highly sought after.

So if you're looking to make some easy money then farming these is a nice way to do so. Theres even more money in it if you perform the enchants to vellums and sell them on the AH!

I expect with the release of Cata to be even higher demand for heirloom enchants with Gobbos and Worgen running around. Comment by Dreadmight Just spent about an hour killing Dust Stormers in Silithus farming for this stuff. Side note- with the Shattering happening, there's lots of Thorium Ore spawns in Silithus, comparable to Un'goro Crater. Just sticking in the area where the stormers were at I netted around 6 stacks, plus almost a full stack of truesilver.

Comment by After patch 4. Comment by kills and only 2 Essence of Air. This is bad Comment by nirv Contrary to the comments here, I just got 8 Essence of Air by killing the 32,27 and 32,16 locations of Dust Stormers twice and it took less than 20 minutes.

I could make a video proving it, but I'm hoping you'll just take my word on it. The drop rate is fine. Comment by Shashos Have been ripping through the elementals in Silithus for over an hour now and not a single Essence of Air has dropped. It would appear that Essence of Water has also had its drop rate nerfed as I had similar luck with it.

Comment by I needed two of the 15 agility enchants and decided to try northern Silithus for the Dust Stormers. Last night I spent about 30 minutes farming with no luck for Essence of Air. I got annoyed and logged out to come back later. I spent another 30 minutes tonight and had the opposite luck. So I think it is still pretty random. Some times you get lucky, sometimes you dont. I came out with 96 Inert Elemental Shard and 46 Inert Elemental Pieces both trash items that drop 1 at a time if none of the other items.

These were all from Dust Stormers. As an 85 hunter I easily 1 shotted everything and could track elementals. I cleared the east then went to south and repeated. The respawn is high, so staying in those 2 places I never ran out of mobs. In conclusion, it all seems to be based on luck on whether you get alot of drops or no drops so stick with it and eventually you will get what you need.

Comment by Parknet Yes.. I had farmed this area many times before. I don't have the exact numbers but I had farmed this area at lot before cata to make the 2H agility enchant. I used to get 10 or more in 30 min or so, make a few enchants and sell the left overs for 10g each. Tonight I was farming for an hour and got one. AH has 2 listed at g each so it seems we are having some troubles, Houston. I search frequently to find the guy that has no clue that posts for 20g still, its getting very rare.

Comment by Doomgrip I went to Silithus to grind some essence of air.
